McBeth Shorthorns
Gerry and Betty Wyatt started McBeth Shorthorns in 2004 after many successful years raising Angus cattle under the herd name GBT Angus.
We decided to raise Shorthorn cattle because of the long and exciting history of the breed, the reputation for calving ease, fertility, growth ability, temperament and carcass quality, the increased acceptance of Shorthorn genetics by commercial cattlemen and the great people that are involved with the breed. We believe the Shorthorn time has arrived and we are very happy to have become part of it.
....News Flash....
In April 2010 we sold our farm to Dan and Dorothy Jeffries of Ponoka, AB. Their daughter Sarah and son-in-law Jim Anderson, an exciting and enthusiastic young couple now operate and manage the property they have named Right Cross Ranch. They will run a cow/calf operation, feed bulls on test and continue to operate the sale barn, with future plans for bigger and better things to come. We have moved to our retirement home we have been creating for the past few years at the resort on White Bear Lake, north of Carlyle, SK. The majority of our cattle are now on lease to Gary, Kim and Sadie Anwender of Radville, SK. for the time being as we wish to continue to be involved with the Shorthorn breed, albeit from the ‘armchair’.
Uluru Shorthorns

Bob Riviere is the owner of Uluru Shorthorns. It was during a visit a few years after my retirement to where I was born and raised in Saskatchewan that my interest in cattle was renewed. This trip occurred about the time Betty and Gerry Wyatt (my cousins) had started to acquire Shorthorn cattle and I decided this might be an interesting and exciting venture to try in my retirement years. As a result of this new interest I purchased a few commercial and a couple of Shorthorn cows as an investment and arranged for Gerry to board them. I established the herd name Uluru Shorthorns within my company, Uluru Enterprises Inc. for business purposes and since then my herd has grown quite rapidly through the acquisition of many quality females from exceptional breeders. During this time I have also enjoyed meeting and visiting with many great people in the breed.
I sponsor the web site “Canadian Shorthorn Genetics Mall” www.shorthorns.ca which is designed to assist Canadian Shorthorn breeders with the marketing of their Shorthorn genetics on a cost effective basis. In support of breeders activities I frequently despatch the “E-com from ULURU” which disseminates information about sales and other breed activities to a large audience electronically.
Uluru Shorthorn’s cattle continue to be located south of Kisbey, SK. on the Right Cross Ranch (formally the Wyatt farm) and are now managed by Sarah and Jim Anderson. It is my vision to establish and maintain a group of moderate sized, easy keeping, fertile, maternal Shorthorn females with good udders that will birth with ease a live calf each year that will be of interest to the commercial and purebred operators as seed stock. If the females don’t work they will be culled without hesitation. I will also venture into the breeding of Shorthorn/Red Angus cross cattle to diversify my holdings and create another option for the commercial breeder. The show ring is not a priority with me however, I realize it can be a valuable marketing vehicle and I will have my cattle exhibited when and where appropriate.
